Tachymeter
Some Swiss Military By R watches have a tachymeter scale. With this scale it is possible to measure the speed. The distance is 1 km. To measure the elapsed time, if the watch is a chronograph, press the start/stop button when the vehicle or person passes the starting and the final point or target. If the watch is a 3 hand watch you can start calculating the time when the second hand is at 12 o’clock. The figure shown by the hand on the tachymeter scale indicates the average speed in kilometers.
For example, if we want to measure how fast the 200m athlete is running, start the chronometer when the race starts and stop it when the athlete crosses the finishing line. Let’s say the athlete used 20 seconds to finish 200m running.
According to the tachymeter, the speed of the athlete is 180km/h. However, the athlete only ran one fifth (1/5) of a kilometer. So, we should divide 180 with 5 or 1/5 of 180, which means the actual speed of the runner is 36km per hour.
All Swiss Military By R timepieces are water-resistant from 50 to 100 meters. Check the details on the back of your Swiss Military By R timepiece and read the following instruction carefully.
Water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet / 5 ATM). Suitable for showering or swimming in shallow waters.
Water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet / 10 ATM). Suitable for swimming or snorkeling.
The water resistance of your timepiece cannot be guaranteed indefinitely, considering that joints may age, crowns or pushers may sustain knocks and climate or temperature may vary. We therefore recommend that you have the water resistance of your timepiece checked every 2 years or whenever the timepiece case is opened.
Original Swiss Military By R nylon straps are clearly marked on the buckle and on the reverse side. Nylon straps should not be used by individuals with strong perspiration or by those who stay for long periods in a humid climate, moreover the backside of the strap is made of leather. Nylon straps are not covered by the international Swiss Military By R warranty.
Screw-down crown

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition)
The advantage of PVD is that it is a thin but hard layer, resistant to corrosion, has a strong adherence, offers many choices of colors and is hypoallergenic.
Stainless steel 316L
The stainless steel used for Swiss Military By R cases and bracelets appears among the best alloys at the moment (316L). It is obtained by a special cast iron which guarantees an extreme robustness and excellent antimagnetic properties. Its low content in carbon makes it particularly resistant to the corrosion.
